Information Security

No CEO, CFO, CIO or CISO wants to be the one to tell his or her boss that “we’ve been breached”.  From Sony to Target to the many bureaus of the Federal Government, organizations are being targeted and penetrated by organized crime, foreign governments, and independent criminals who are determined to get to your financial data, customer data, employee information and anything of value.

We have more than 30 years of experience helping organizations assess their security vulnerabilities, prepare their systems, train their employees to detect and prevent illegal and inappropriate access.

Let our team provide an assessment for you and sleep better that you are protected.

Application Management

We work with our clients to improve application development (AD) capabilities (e.g., outsourcing, business unit IT interface, fine-tuning an AD organization, performance management, and redesigning the application development process from specification to deployment). We also focus on requirement management, performance assessments, capability maturity models (CMM), capability building, sourcing mix optimization, and lean redesign of the AD process.

IT Architecture and Infrastructure

Managing IT architecture often lacks the same rigor and business focus that characterize many of the other IT disciplines. The increasing attention of CIOs to IT architecture and its simplification has resulted in significant savings. We help our clients address the traditional architectural challenges (e.g., inconsistent data) as well as emerging issues (e.g., service-oriented architecture or server virtualization).

Developing an IT infrastructure to allow people access to data and applications is one of the two primary roles of IT organizations (the other is creating applications and data that automate processes). In addition, we work with clients to:

  • Migrate technologies from being part of applications to being infrastructure, including: facilities, mainframes, storage, networks, desktops and productivity tools, and databases and application platforms.
  • Optimize the delivery capabilities for managing these hardware and software technology assets, including: operational processes, organizational structure and skills, and the systems and tools that automate infrastructure processes.
  • Align the infrastructure group with its business and AD customers so it can address critical business needs, including technology architecture, volumes and service levels, capacity levels, vendors, and charge backs.

IT Strategy & Organization

We work with clients on a range of issues from IT governance to IT program management office (PMO) to IT merger management.

Lean IT

Today’s IT shop has an unprecedented level of complexity. This situation results in increasing variability in delivery and service, decreasing utilization, and significant customer dissatisfaction. These challenges can be addressed by an improvement methodology based on a lean approach.

Leading institutions globally are driving operational excellence in IT by applying lean industrial engineering principles. Lean methodologies aim to move IT infrastructure, and application development and maintenance work practices towards a set of consistent standards that drive higher quality and productivity. This approach has proven to have significant and lasting impact.

Outsourcing & Offshoring

Outsourcing and offshoring of business and IT processes is an important lever to reduce cost and increase speed, flexibility, and revenues. We help our clients evaluate whether a process should be outsourced or offshored by examining the variables, e.g., if a process can be executed remotely, what level of collaboration is needed, etc.

It is not uncommon to see one process outsourced (e.g., payroll) while another is offshored (e.g., claims processing) in the same client. We carefully weigh when to use lean transformation, when to offshore, and what is the relation between the two in helping our clients develop a practical plan forward. Once decided, we work with clients to implement the best solution and build capabilities within the organization.

Tech-Enabled Marketing & Sales

Working closely with our clients, we find ways that tech-enabled marketing and sales—also known as Customer Relationship Management (CRM)—can drive business growth in three areas:

  • Customer service (including call center)
  • Marketing and campaigning, sales and channel management (including sales effectiveness, pricing, and multi-channel management)
  • Customer analytics (customer value and lifecycle management) and customer-data management

Tech-Enabled Operations

We help our clients both understand and capture the potential of those internet and digital technologies that can provide transformational improvement in every facet of operations.
